About this product

Product Information

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a 2D fighting game by Arc System Works, the studio that created the distinctive Guilty Gear series. As the developer's first 2D fighter developed for high-definition systems, BlazBlue features fast, anime-inspired fighting action, which plays out over detailed, multi-layered backgrounds, with flashy, sometimes psychedelic visual effects for special attacks and big hits. The fighting takes on a certain rhythm, as there is a split second pause after each hit, giving players who can catch on to the cadence a chance to use the brief freezes to time their next move or counterattack. The action is very fast, and without the stuttering pauses, few humans could hope to keep up. Each character has a special "drive" attack move, which is difficult to perform, but devastating if used correctly. The story of the game involves dissent and destruction among a powerful council, known unofficially as "the Library," which controls a great power that once saved humanity, but which now wields its power in protective, some say repressive, ways. The game's developer declared BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger to be the "spiritual successor" to the Guilty Gear series. Its roster of combatants is a rogues' gallery of weird, super-powered, emotionally complicated characters, including vampires and werewolves, and the beat-'em-up action plays out to an unrelenting precision-metal soundtrack by composer Daisuke Ishiwatari.

Initially available to all North American consumers who pre-ordered the game, the Limited Edition of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger includes a 48-song, two-disc soundtrack and a video disc featuring tutorials and character-specific strategies, and comes in special packaging.

    • Nice game, but I didn`t like the characters too much

The game itself is good: Good presentation, good graphics, good playability. The only thing that made me dislike the game a little was the style: To much anime cliche: bizarre characters, bizarre moves... I prefer a more serious style like Street Fighter or King of Fighters than kid-looking characters. But that is just personal taste, as a game, blaz blue is very well done and the online works also really well.

    • best fighting game i played

First of all this game only has 12 characters, but don't let that fool you because each one of those characters are different from each other. All of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. The graphics are simply amazing, especially on an hdtv. The gameplay is awesome since it makes it easy for beginners to pick up the game and play. If you really want to master combos and all of the techniques, you're going to have to practice... a lot. With the limted edition disk the bonus DVD just gives information on the characters, their special abilities, combos, and strategies. The music CD were also very good as they are instrumentals, but are good music to just listen to. To summarize, if you're looking for a fighting game different from Street Fighter 4, Blazblue is the game you've been ...

    • Online gaming couldn't be better

I love the soundtrack - the way the characters were designed and the story mode is pretty good - originally, i wasn't gonna buy this game but i don't regret it now since i got it for a cheap price on ebay rather than buying it from gamestop. too bad the game doesn't have too many characters but the char's that it does have are really well made - with unique attacks. The specials are pretty easy to pull off and the combos take some time to learn but overall the game is very fun with an anime-esque style to it. This game is worth the 46$ lol if ur a fan of fighting games and anime then i highly recommend the game

    • Blazblue Calamity Trigger

Excellent game, especially for fans of fighting games. One of the few fighting games to have a decent story, and in this case it's getting better the more I play it. Great online, great controls, great presentation overall. There are some balance issues with some characters, but other than that, an excellent product. The bonus disc and soundtrack only add to this with great videos and excellent music, all pre-packaged in the box set. Go with the limited edition if you want to buy this game, most definitely.

    • Blazblue Review.

I haven't really played the game as much as I would have liked to before writing a review, but it seems I can't get into the game enough to commit many more hours. However, it would be unfair to say that this is a bad game. The online community is fun to play with and the game is certainly a fun game to play with friends. There are some games hardcore gamers can sit and play for hours, but I don't think this is one of those games. You play for an hour and then you need to move on. Then the next day you want to play a bit more so you play for an hour and get sick of it again. It is a very decent fighting game that has some depth. It plays a lot faster than Street Fighter which is a plus and the game makes more sense than Soul Caliber. If you are an anime or manga fan, this game also has ...
