About this product

Product Information

With STEP INTO LIQUID, Dana Brown emerges from his legendary father's shadow and adds another classic film to the surf documentary canon. Son of hugely influential filmmaker Bruce Brown (THE ENDLESS SUMMER, ON ANY SUNDAY), Dana's debut as a writer/director is a gorgeously photographed tribute to surfing and the individuals who love it. Journeying all across to the world to show just how universally praised a sport--and lifestyle--surfing is, Brown uses his natural enthusiasm and humor to great effect, narrating the film with an infectious, breezy optimism. He presents a wide range of surfers, from superstars (Kelly Slater, Laird Hamilton, Keala Kennelly) to amateurs, including an old man who hasn't missed a day of surfing in over 25 years. The locations include such unknown surf spots as Wisconsin, Texas, and even Ireland, to the more widely regarded waters of Hawaii, California, and Australia. Brown wisely saves the best for last, as a group of incredibly bold surfers journey out to sea to test out their skills on 60-foot-plus waves. But what makes STEP INTO LIQUID such a vital experience is its overall positive energy. This is a film that doesn't just celebrate surfing; it celebrates life.

Step Into Liquid old but valuable. However, Disc 2 does not play... website no longer exists..

This is an original "surfing" documentary and is well worth seeing. There are 2 discs with Step Into Liquid DVD. Disc 1 is great, however, Disc 2 accesses a website that is no longer in existence and as a result Disc 2 is not usable. Otherwise this old but excellent DVD is great and deserves only 4 stars since Disc 2 is worthless..

  • step into liquid dvd

I bought this dvd because this dvd is about surfing the history ,life style and the people who surf and why they do it. And the most important of all is were it is going. The dvd is of a good quality and the movie is very good.there are no special effects and stunt people in this movie, every thing is done by the surfers. You can see spectacular displays of the ocean and its power. You can also see spectacular beaches and pictures of other countries. If you saw the Endless Summer then you know what to expect, its filmed in the same style. This version is the 2 DVD set ,so you will get the movie and the other dvd containing the KELLY SLATER PRO SURFER game and additional surfline features. IN GENERAL IT IS A GOOD MOVIE WITH SPECTACULAR SCENERY AND WITH A GOOD ENDING.

  • Surfing from Sheboygan to the Sea of Cortez. No other sport could be so fun to watch.

  • Shut up and surf!

When it comes to movies like this, the meat of the movie is the beautiful shots of waves and the riders. There are plenty of those, but in my opinion, too many shots of interviews with surfers and too much of their philosophy and admitting to surf addiction. Do we really need to see all the old guys still paddling around too? I thought that was over the top. It would've been better to show some footage of them in their prime riding the north shore. Also, sure it's nice that they can once in a while surf in Ireland, but do we really need that much footage of that either? More tow-in to big surf and less talk would have made this film better.
