fantastic Device to play around with thank you very much.
hmmm where to start. the pixel art for each digimon is adorable. the instructions explain how the game works extremely well even if you don't read japanese and there's no silly pendulum shaking it around like the newer digimon products. the device itself is very lightweight, yet fits nicely in your hands enough to be comfortable, the LEDs are very high quality as expected for a japanese product and again, you don't even need to understand japanese to play the device, the functionality of it is extremely well documented. unlike most digivices, this Digivice is Adventure and level based, so you don't need to feed or take care of your Digimon, you merely battle them on the map as you progress in the 'story' and the Digimon Digivolve based on how many wins you've gotten with that specific ... hmmm where to start. the pixel art for each digimon is adorable. the instructions explain how the game works extremely well even if you don't read japanese and there's no silly pendulum shaking it around like the newer digimon products. the device itself is very lightweight, yet fits nicely in your hands enough to be comfortable, the LEDs are very high quality as expected for a japanese product and again, you don't even need to understand japanese to play the device, the functionality of it is extremely well documented. unlike most digivices, this Digivice is Adventure and level based, so you don't need to feed or take care of your Digimon, you merely battle them on the map as you progress in the 'story' and the Digimon Digivolve based on how many wins you've gotten with that specific Mon, so a little forewarning that there is a *bit* of Grinding involved in the device. that being said, as you progress throughout the game, it has the core 8 Digimon in it for you to unlock: Agumon, Gomamon, Gabumon, Gatomon, Biyomon, Palmon, Patamon and Tentamon. Each Creature has it's own unique Evolutionary path for it so there's plenty of variety to choose from once you've unlocked all 8 of them, as explained above the pixel art for each Mon is extremely cute and very well done. the combat in the game is Simple: stop the roulette for a AP boost. fuller the circle the more power you have in the battle in addition to each Digimon's own AP and HP level, before combat you also choose whether or not to Digivolve your Monsters and that's where the LEDs come into play: Each level of Digimon has a different colour, pattern and animation to it and as you progress and win with the Digimon, the higher and stronger you can get: it starts you off at Rookie Level, at 10 wins you go up to champion, 20 wins gets you up to Ultimate Level 30 gets you to Mega Digivolving and Some Digimon have an "Omega" Symbol to it, which unlocks DNA Digivolving when you've done 40 wins with the two specific Digimon required for the event to occur. extremely cool to witness this because the animation and LEDs are done very well and it's quite entertaining to experience. now... battery wise it's 3 AAA Batteries so be advised that 85% of this battery power IS the LED functionality, However.... the reason this is 5 stars is that the LEDs are *Optional* you CAN turn off the LEDs and still enjoy the Game without them. it's just way prettier with the LEDs on and they add a lot of interesting functionality to the device. at the time of writing this I haven't completed the Digivice to 100% but I can say with confidence that this is worth buying. the Animations are quite faithful to the 2020 Digimon Anime, it follows the "Story" of that reboot and the Battles are interesting enough to warrant the Win Grinding: the Higher you 'Digivolve' the faster the Roulette goes which adds a sort of Risk Reward kind of combat to it. you *Can* just breeze through the game with Agumon and Gabumon's Omega form but I do suggest checking out the really cool pixel art for the other Digimon as well, it's well worth the grind. they did a fantastic job designing each Digimon and how they Digivolve. now... that being said... you Do only start with Agumon in the beginning and you have to Unlock each Monster as you progress throughout the device's Map Systems. each Area has 10 battles on it and you unlock new Digimon in the order that they appeared in the Anime so if you know the anime you know how and when to unlock a specific Digimon if that's the one you're looking for. there's also a Surprise Digivolve for players to unlock but.... I'll leave that up to you to Discover if you decide to buy this product. in conclusion: fantastic little device, fun, a little Skill required and very nicely done artwork, animation and LED work done. the Combat is engaging enough to warrant multiple playthroughs of the map and the faithfulness to it's anime counterpart is very charming. I've played around with Digivices a lot over the years and this one has definitely been worth the pick up.
