    Spectacular

    If you like or love Beethovens music you have to watch this DVD. All the characters are people Beethoven dealt with in his lifetime, pretty cool. And the music is played live by an actual orchestra in costume! It’s an amazing look into the day he premiered his Eroica symphony number 3. Back in those days most music was only for the Aristocratic nobility. It would be more than six months after he premiered this symphony before the rest of Vienna would hear it. His patron paid him 2000 florens for 6 months of exclusive rights to the symphony so he could play it for the nobility at gatherings at his palace. Get it, enjoy it. Ludwig van Beethoven the greatest composer the world has ever known.

    Beethovens third symphony is how he singlehandedly changed the course of music.

    This movie is a great dramatization of the massive Turning Point in musical history that Beethoven creates. Almost all of the dialogue is based on actual written accounts of the events. Of the many interesting facets of the movie is that it shows the dynamic between the conservative and Progressive reactions to this music. Another Plus is that the performance itself is first-rate. The DVD menu allows you to watch the movie and the events unfold, or it allows you to simply watch the performance. This is a great moment in history, where Beethoven becomes Beethoven and the movie does it justice.
