Les Paul, iconic innovator
This DVD is an outstanding introduction to the technical innovations and musical mastery of Les Paul. A precocious childhood and quest for musical perfection both in performance and in the instruments he played led him to develop the first electric guitar (Fender claims the same, though Paul's prototypes predate those of Fender) and multi-track recording setting the foundation for today's recording industry. Paul is very engaging in telling his own story and for a certain generation, his discography is so familiar. This DVD is a must see for everyone. Paul's history and contribution should be better known.

Les Paul complete
An excellent documentary/ overview of the career life of les Paul. Details, anecdotes told by the man himself, w added comments by associates & fans throughout. Special interest are the DVD extras--- television spots, interviews, old short film clips, unforgettable scene where he & Mary perplex Alistair Cooke. Missing the 1978 today show performance w Chet Atkins, the early 80s Coors beer commercial- would've been nice add-ins. Also,at least a photo slide show of les' s creations-- meaning guitars. Overall, for whatever price a great value, highly recommended. RcWolfe 09

Chasing Sound-Les Paul
So many wonderful guitar players who actually play the worlds finest guitar. I was prompted to buy this DVD after reading reviews by Les Paul guitar owners (like myself) who praise the guitar highly. The body-mahogany with a maple top-has retained the shape for many years but the other furniture changes, or can be changed, to suit the players. The story is fantastic and I will watch it often because once you own the guitar the magic of it is always beckoning you to play and learn.

If your into the history of music this Les Paul DVD is the for you! Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009) [3][4]was an American innovator, inventor, musician and songwriter. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible". He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s and they sold millions of records. Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is prominently named by the music museum on its website as an "architect" and a "key inductee" along with Sam Phillips and Alan Freed. SA
