    Kadees Are Still Number One

    I'm really not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said about Kadee couplers. Simply put, they are still the best there is. Installation is easy, the couplers are durable, and they make them for any application there is. This particular model comes in handy when a standard 148 coupler sits too low. Sometimes, you can fix that by shaving off the areas where the trucks fasten to the car, but that's not always possible, depending on the design. The simple thing to do is simply get a set of these 147's. I also love that Kadee has now been offering the whisker style for the past several years, like these, making installation even simpler than it already was.

    My Favorite HO Coupler

    Been a big fan and advocate of the Kadee coupler system since I was first introduced to them way back in 1976. Back then it was the 5 & 10's, pre delayed coupling springs that were the norm. Talk about dependable, they are it. Used to run 100+ car trains with mid unit helpers at the club I was in, and the only thing that could handle that much strain was the Kadee coupler. Not only are they strong, but reliable too, they make switching a ball, and can be uncoupled by one of their magnet variations, or by using a hand held tool, or even a kabob skewer. I love them, always did, and always will. The new centering springs remind me of the original centering springs, and those I have always prefered over the delayed ones, so I'm glad for this new improvement in their design.     Perfect Conversion Coupler for Athearn Box Cars

    The draft gear on Athearn box cars sits slightly low (per NMRA standards) so an underset coupler head like the #147 is perfect for them. The "whisker" design means quick and easy one-piece drop in to the Athearn draft gear. Related Athearn cars, like their stock cars, also sit low and need this coupler.
