Buy this tool
I bought one of the cheap silver tools first and all it did was skip. Just used this tool on my rav 4. I used a 1/2 drive ratchet with 27mm socket. It took quite a bit of force but the filter housing came loose. I would say you definitely want a quality tool like this if you plan on DIY oil changes on your toyota

The perfect tool for oil filter changes.
This Motivx filter cup wrench was a perfect fit for a 2009 RAV4 4-cylinder. I would not recommend trying to remove the filter housing without this wrench as damaging the filter housing is easy to do. It took seconds to remove the housing after using this Motivx wrench. It seems to be constructed well out of aluminum and should last for a long time if taken care of. The walls are thick and it doesnāt feel flimsy. The fit is snug with very little play. Oil filter changes are so easy now with this wrench. Itās a must have.

Only Tool That Works
I used this to remove an oil filter on a 2017 4Runner Limited after bending a cheap model from a local auto parts store. The key is that you need the deeper depth and the slots on the Motiv tool to be able to loosen this type of filter cap. The package details/specifications for compatibility havenāt been updated for newer models of Toyotas but this one was the same. The quality on this tool is great. I twisted a ratchet extension without damaging the tool and was still able to remove the stubborn filter cap with a large adjustable wrench. Iāll purchase the exact size socket to fit over the nut on the Motiv and use a breakers bar next time. Well worth the money.

Motivx Oil Wrench Tool
Retired Quality Engineer. I have an older oil wrench from a different company that I've used several times. Getting a little worn but usable. Thought I'd pick up this one to avoid an issue next time I change oil. Haven't used it yet, but appears to be well made and well designed. I suggest always use the external socket portion of these type tools to reduce stress on the tool.

The best of the best
My investigation led me to this Motivx oil filter wrench. It is durable and of high quality and easily outshines the cheap plastic units in the market. I like that you can also turn it with a 1 1/8" socket as well as the 3/8" drive. I used it on a Lexus RX350 and it performed perfectly.
