On my 1993 Raleigh MT-400 this replaced its STX front derailleur that had a weak throw. This Altus FD-M310 shifts beautifully: crisp and decisive. The bike shifts like new.

Shimano Altus M310 7/8 Speed Front Derailleur

This Shimano product was huge upgrade from the front derailleur that came with my bike. Now shifting is much more responsive and smoother. I have now upgraded the entire bike with Shimano free wheel, crankset, front and rear derailleurs and Shimano Revo twist Shifters. Once you have an entire Shimano Intergrated System (SIS) installed on most bicycles the bike will perform much better than with the stock parts.

  • Sturdy but tricky installation

Comes without instructions for shift cable installation. Top pull is simple, bottom pull is more difficult and requires access to Shimano website for installation instructions and information on SIS tuning and derailleur adjustment.

  • Complicated to hook up the wire vice screw, but managed since I tried for 10 minutes.

It made my bike new again, so I'm pleased.

  • Shimano derailleur

Used to replace a old worn out non working derailleur. Fit perfectly and easy to adjust. Shifts are tight and perfect Everytime.

  • Smoothness...

This Derailleur is much better than the Tourney that came stock. Very nice adjustments for percise shifting. The Alivio rear Derailleur make a great pair. The only thing really keeping it down are the Tourney Shifters that i presently have. Don't get me wrong, those shifters are doing what they are supposed to just not as efficient as they could be.
