    Pretty neat system. works better than anticipated

    I think its a bit expensive and it seems maybe a bit cheap, made of plastic but most black box electronic stuff like this is. It is easy to operate, intuitive, easy to set up and for what it is designed to do its excellent. Great range in a forest with hilly terrain, very very few false signals. I’m impressed with it and feel pretty secure that I know what kind of traffic is happening on and around my 5 acre property.

    Good low cost system

    I live at the end of a 1/2-mile private road in the mountains. What originally attracted my attention to the MURS system was the (reported) 4-mile range. Since i'm in steep terrain with a lot of trees, this seems like a good option. Installation was easy. The biggest problem is the sensitivity of the system. I got a lot of false alarms until I trimmed trees and repositioned the sensor lower to the ground. Wind is a problem for this system. I probably should have purchased the unit that has the underground sensor. However, that would not help me for pedestrians who are walking up the road. I will probably purchase a second sensor to install further up my road. In this way, if I get a zone 1 alert, followed by a zone 2 alert, I will likely be a real (and not wind) notice.

    Quite useful!

    I was a little hesitant to spend this kind of money on something, but decided to go for it. I am now glad I did, the home base unit does exceptionally well at about 450 ft from the sensor, the walkie talkie does great at about 3/4 of a mile. we have 93 acres and so far it covers it well, I was really skeptical until I got it all hooked up. The only complaint I have is the alert is usually a little scratchy and if ur on a 4wheeler with the volume turned all the way up you have to listen really hard. I have pondered the idea of using an ear piece with the walkie but am worried about being able to hear what's going on around me, being as we run tractors and mowers and such. But overall a great decision to purchase!

    Dakota Alerts Work Great!

    These Dakota Alerts Work Great! I had two stop working. I tried moving the 4 position Switch, back & Forth and got them working again. This Switch controls the 4 different Zones. I guess the contact was a bit corroded! We have an 86 acre Property and have alarms down our driveway. They work Great! We Highly recommend them!
