As for precision, I`ve tested mine with gauge blocks up to 4 inches. precision is excellent up to 1 inch after that , it`s off up to .006 mil. At 4 inches it comes back ok within .002. So for the average person, this tool is all ok. For a machinist, abstain from using it unless you know the errors.
