Classic game that still holds up in my opinion. Though I would recommend the PSP version on the PS Vita shop as it's MUCH cheaper than the PS1 version and lacks the strange changes to the character designs and names. It also has a much more faithful translation of the Japanese version. This game offers a different experience to the later games with its combat system and flexible party members. Also worth noting that the PSP version has an alternate story route, "Snow Queen", that the US PS1 version doesn't offer.

Back when there was hardly any RPGs for the PS Persona was beacon of light. It has the basic fantasy RPG elements like turn base combat/exploration all in a modern setting along with some other modern elements like 1st person 3D dungeons. Another good element is that instead of defeating your foes you could win a battle with conversation and sometimes you could get the foe to join your cuase by recieving there card. these inturn could be used and combined to creat summons/spells which where called persona powers that leveled(ranked) up along with you. These persona powers also enhanced your attributes and attacks as well. All in all I spent many hours just exploring and creating new persona powers not to mention the casino which has some rare super items you can purchase with your chips. P.S all my friends would laugh when the ppl in my party where attacking with AK-47s and Shotguns, while my main character still attacked with a big sword.Read full review
I bought this game because my best friend talks about the series all the time and how he missed his chance to get his copy while it was available. He was really surprised and now I don't have to get him Christmas or birthday gifts for a few years. He has played it and really likes it, which is what I wanted. I have never played any of the games in this series but he tells me it is different from your typical RPG (in a good way) and that I would like it. Maybe someday when I get time I'll have to borrow it.
I used to own this game when it first came out on PS1 (Play Station), so over the years I've tried to find it. This copy of the game is alright, it won't work on my ps1, but works well on the ps2 (Playstation 2). It did freeze once, but its worked fine since then...
If you are a MegaTen fan, then will want to add this title to your collection.
