About this product

Product Information

Director Nora Ephron (SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, YOU'VE GOT MAIL) breathes new life into the classic television show BEWITCHED in this romantic comedy of the same name. Movie star Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) had it all--until he made a few bad films and his wife left him. Now, the washed up star is slated to play Darrin in a remake of the 1960s sitcom about a mortal man who unknowingly marries a beautiful, good-hearted witch. Determined to resuscitate his career, Jack and his agent, Richie (Jason Schwartzman), demand that an unknown be cast as the witch, Samantha, in order to maximize his screen time and star power. After an exhaustive search for the right actress--and the perfect nose wiggle--Jack spots Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) in a book store and is convinced that she can be the new Samantha. And right he is; Isabel really is a witch who is determined to try life--and hopefully love--without magic, much to the chagrin of her debonair warlock father, Nigel (Michael Caine). Immediately drawn to Jack, Isabel follows her heart and takes the role only to discover that he has no plan to share the spotlight with her, and can also be a big jerk. Can Isabel refrain from using magic to put Jack in his place and win his love? And how will Jack react when he learns Isabel's secret?More interesting than a standard remake, the screenplay by Ephron and her sister Delia nicely weaves in the characters and basic plot of the original television series while developing a completely new story and characters. Shirley MacLaine stars as a legendary actress who plays Samantha's mother, Endora, in the new television show--and just may have a few secrets of her own. Steve Carell has an amusing turn as Uncle Arthur, a character originally played by comedian Paul Lynde.

My favorite kung fu movie. Unfortunately the movie arrived loose in the case. DVD has scratches! *Picture quality is extremely poor. Offering something like this as new is a bit cheeky.

The dvd was new and never opened. The disc probably came loose during shipping , which would cause the scratches. Something I cannot control. This dvd is all region, which is not the best quality. Region1 is the best. They are not available outside the U.S.

  • Needs Some Additional Bewitching

Familiarity with the television series, immortalized by Elizabeth Montgomery, was my primary reason for viewing this film. I didn't expect much from Nicole Kidman, and I wasn't disappointed. However, I was surprised by the appearances of Sir Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, and simply delighted by the family drawing room comedy that Nora Ephron created. The property possessed the posibility to be terminally boring, but Ephron gave the concept and plot a fresh spin that made it entertaining to watch. "Bewitched" won't develop your conscience, but I think it is a great film for families, or to get away from the grind of the rat race. A solid buy, t bears watching more than once -- over time.

  • Bewitched is a Bummer... Sorry Will Ferrell

Bewitched had the billings for major movie success - Great name (hey its Bewitched right?!), great cast (Ferrell, Kidman, MacLaine, Caine - not bad!), good producing team, etc. But the movie was so-so - and I say that because I'm a diehard Will Ferrell fan... otherwise, I'd say it was worse! But while Will Ferrell provided lots of laughs and was quite good - there was no chemistry between him and Nicole Kidman... and I blame Nicole. She had no emotion throughout the movie and didn't show a moment of excitment or energy - in fact, I'd say she realized Tom Cruise earned the money and without him ... well she needs a check! I was surprised by her lack of energy and it sank the movie. Too bad because I expected much better! Bewitched Cast Nicole Kidman .... Isabel Bigelow/Samantha Will ...

  • A decent movie made Better by Ferrell and Kidman

Bewitched I expected the absolute worst and actually ended up warming up to this Remake. This is a decent movie made Better by Ferrell and Kidman The first time I watched Bewitched I didn't like it. But being a night owl, this movie is on all the time. I ended up watching it a couple times and really started seeing the positive side. Don't expect anything incredible, just come into the film with an open mind and you'll enjoy it. This isn't Will Ferrells best work but it belongs in any Will Ferrell fans collection. Final Verdict: 3/5 Rent or Buy?: Unless you're a huge Will Ferrell fan you'll do just fine renting this movie. Just remember- don't expect too much and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • Average Movie

I watched this movie with no expectations, just as a movie unrelated to the TV show it was patterned after...It was ok, there were some funny parts by Will Ferrel and I really enjoy his comedy still, wish there was alittle more of him and his antics later in the movie. I also enjoyed some of the goofy child like young love scenes between Kidman and Ferrell. But, overall the movie left me hanging...like something wasn't finished...there are story lines that are not wrapped or even addressed and it just sort of ends. Not a bad movie to watch and enjoy just for what it is...but definitely not a blockbuster, or one that I will watch over and over. Think they have set it up so a sequel could be made, which in my mind is a mistake as this movie was just ok.

  • Be Bored!

Next to Lost in Translation this was one of the worst movies I have seen. As a matter of fact I was ready to walk out of the theater after about 15 minutes. IMO it was box office theivery. Nicole Kidman is a fine actress, worthy of a much better part. There was no chemistry between her character Samantha and Will Farrels character Darren. It was almost like the tow were acting separately from one another in different rooms. It was not in keeping with the orginal TV series and took bits and pieces of the TV series and threw it together into a mismash of unrelated events. When it resorts to Will Farrel running buck naked in order to get a laugh you know its is bad. Who wants to see Will Farrel naked I sure don't and he certainly would not be my first choice. Shirley Mc Clain was not Endora, ...
