Arctic Silver C2 is my go-to thermal paste for every project. I rebuild desktops, refurbish servers and workstations, and rebuild laptops. In my experience, C2 has been an excellent paste in all these applications. I can't vouch for its use in overclocked gaming rigs, but it's given great temperatures with stock fans and aftermarket coolers in every application I have tried. I have used it on every processor from Pentium 3's to Core 2 Quads, Xeons, and Atom and Stealy mobile chipsets, and even replaced stock paste on chipset heatsinks with it. Compared to stock paste on stock fans, I usually see 5c to 15c temperature reductions. With aftermarket heatsinks and fans, I've even managed to keep a dual-Xeon machine (2 X5560s in a workstation) below 65c at full load for hours. Admittedly, the Intel DBX-B coolers probably had a big hand in that, but C2 was up to the job, even for this application. I was amazed at the temperatures I got on my Samsung Q1U handheld PC when replacing the stock paste on the heatpipe/sink combo with C2. I got a 14c reduction in full-load temperature (90c to 76c) and was even able to overclock it slightly (920MHz, approximately) with SetFSB and stay under 80c. For a sub-$10 syringe of paste, I don't think you could do better. It applies easily when doing a pea-sized drop from the syringe, and spreads easily with a spreader or spade, or even a credit-card edge, when applying to large heat spreaders and die-caps. In my experience C2 doesn't 'stick' or pull chips when removed, doesn't tend to run much before curing, and compared to some cheaper thermal compounds, is completely odorless when setting up. In short, no matter the job, ordinary computers don't require extraordinary thermal paste. Ceramique's C2 does a great job at a winning price and won't let you down. The 25g tube is enough for several jobs, and tends to stay stable for years when stored in a cool, dry place. Try it on your next installation and I believe you'll be impressed.Read full review

Easy to use. Works very good. Very good price. This ceramic thermo paste is made to take longer to firm-up. Artic Silver does have a faster setting paste (#5), but I found that it is mainly used by computer stores and factories so they can hurry things up. In my mind slower setting allows it to fill any unknown air gaps better which provide a more efficient fit.

Arctic Silver Thermal Compound provides excellent surface contact properties for best cooling where used. It's properties provide ability to easily remove cooling device without drying to a hard film. It spreads evenly with minimal use.

At full load my 95 watt AMD cpu is at 37C maximum with this compound and a stock heatsink. This is definitely better than the radioshack brand I was using before. Have not used it on a gaming pc however for people who run their pc's 24/7 this is great for them.

I use a fair amount of thermal paste. This is good stuff. I use it when redoing graphics cards. It does great with the higher temps and works great on processors, too.
