A great package.
I started serious photography with an Olympus OM-1 in the 35 mm film era (one OM-1 camera body is still mounted on my Celestron astronomical telescope system) . This is my first serious DSLR (I've had several digital point and shoot cameras, but when my Canon died from a battery corrode-down I decided to step up). The camera is surprisingly easy to use in basic picture-taking mode, I have still to learn its more sophisticated functionalities, but I only have had it for a few weeks. The included accessory package gets you into instantly into intermediate level photography. Since I take a fair number of action photos from a distance I immediately added the 55-250 mm zoom lens, the EF-S system is a big help when you are trying to catch martial arts action 50 yards away. All you need in a camera

Just what I wanted in a digital camera.
The T5i is a good value especially with a newer version coming out. I like this model better over the T5 because of the swivel screen and the SD card slot on the side. While that may not be a big deal to most people, these features help me better as I learn photography.
