Title: The Towering Inferno. Disaster movies used to work because there was little certainty as to who would survive. Not so in this film, really an amalgam of two original stories, about a group of well-to-do celebrants at the top floor of a skyscraper.

  • One Best Picture

I saw this movie the firs time it was released in the theaters. Every scene was so beautifully crafted and the actors gave justice to their roles. Even years ago, when computer generated images were not yet popular, the scenes were excellently made and in fact looked very real. I could just imagine how much money went into the props, and how much planning was made on each scene. I got to get a glimpse of a documentary of the making of the Towering Inferno and there was mention that if the scene was not planned properly, it could cause a collapse of the set and the shot would be ruined. Admirable teamwork. Because I was so interested in how each scene was written (being that writing is really my first love), I got a hold of a copy of the shooting script even if it cost a lot of money. This movie is in itself a great learning experience.
