    Great product!!!

    I purchased 3 of these variable capacitors to construct some L-type SWL long-wire antenna tuners. They are in brand new condition, the fins are all perfectly straight, there's absolutely no corrosion and they make good contact across the entire range. The 365pf value is also correct. Note: When hooking these up, the four tabs on the bottom of the capacitor are ALL connected to the stationary fins. You will have to use a 3mm screw and solder tab, attached to the body of the capacitor, to connect to the rotating fins. Also, the fin spacing is very thin, which wouldn't make them good for transmitter antenna tuners beyond a few watts. I highly recommend them!!!

    An Old School Variable Capacitor

    Bought for a passive medium wave (AM) loop antenna and there aren't many choices these days for an old-school variable capacitor. Out of the box, the capacitor is fine but be very careful when mounting the capacitor. I choose to mount the capacitor from the bottom but did not realize the two insulator bars on each side of the capacitor can be pulled out of alignment causing the fixed capacitor plates to shift when the mounting screws are tightened down. In my case, the capacitor ended up shorting out. I was able to fix the problem once the capacitor was un-installed. In the end, I made a spacer shim to go between the bottom of the capacitor and the flat mounting surface to keep the insulating bars from coming in contact with the mounting surface.     A Problem Child

    My experience with this product: the biggest problem with this VC is that the bottom is not flat. The bottom mounting holes are not tapped, this is normal. However after tapping and mounting it to the VC mount, and just snugging up the mounting screws, that torqued the frame and would not tune. After removing it and checking, the bottom is not anywhere close to flat. It took a considerable amount of sanding (by hand) to achieve a flat surface. Once this was accomplished, it worked as it should. Maybe i just got a bad one.
