There is an adjustable "smart" mode that will run the pump motor for a set number of minutes and turn off for another set number of minutes to save on filter life and electricity. The UV-C light really keeps the water clean in combination with the large 3-stage filter. Only negative is that it only connects to wifi if you own another one of their products that supports the function, otherwise it's bluetooth only. Really like it
