This was one of the first novels I really remember falling in love with. Can’t recommend it enough! If you’re a Star Trek fan, especially for TNG, you’ll find the story very compelling. John de Lancie’s input was clearly put to use to make our narrator, Q, that much more authentic and lively. Just a wonderful, oddly wholesome read!

I bought this book because I -love- Q from the television series. He has to be my favorite character from TNG. That being said, I didn't care for this book. It was very well written, yes, but I found it to be a little corny (for lack of a better word). It was not entirely logical either (a must for any book of mine). Spock would not have enjoyed it, I'm sure. If you are a Christian, you will likely find this book to be very blasphemous. If you've studied the origins of the universe from a Christian perspective, you'll find the book to have a fair amount of weirdly twisted logic. (Several parts hurt my brain, they were so twisted. They were logically inaccurate, but in such a way that it was almost painful to try to decifer them.) If you have not watched the television series (Star Trek: The Next Generation) you will probably not get much out of the book as it assumes you already know who most of the main (and some of the minor) characters are, not to mention the various species encountered. All in all, it was well written, the story was pretty good on the whole, but the individual parts ranged from pretty good to pathetic. If it weren't for the twisted logic, weird "theology", and just plain "corny-ness" of the whole thing, I might have like it simply because it was about Q. Still, Spock will always be my all-time favorite Star Trek character, therefore books must be logical for me to enjoy them.Read full review
No typical Q shenanigans-no humor. Usually Picard and Q are at odds with each other, creating ttension and instability in the story; not so here. In defense of the book, perhaps I just didn’t like the writers style. Sorry, Mr De Lance.

A delightful book by John de Lancie. I have read the other Q books and this is the only one that really captures the true Q essence perfectly. Humorous and thoughtful. This is a great story with the heart and soul of Q brought forth as the story plays itself out. Only De Lancie knows how to encapsulate every dimension of Q.
