Good Drive with lots of storage space.
The WD Elements 2 TB drive was a since to install and get up and running. The drive easily shows up in Win 7 giving me the ability to back up all of my data with minimal problems. However for some reason it does not show up on my Win XP machine which was the primary reason I purchased it. It shows USB connectivity but the drive doesn’t open on my XP system. With the help of the internet I was able to work around it. I’m disappointed it doesn’t show up in Win XP even after I reinstalled my OS with all pertinent updates but as the industry is moving forward its not that big of a deal. I’m able to use it as my primary back up for both my PC and Laptop via private networked systems. It’s a beast in comparison to other back up drives I’ve used. I like the reputation of the Western Digital name & their products. I am impressed with the compact size of this External Hard Drive & that all you have to do is plug it in & start using it. I was able to back up all of my flash drives plus everything on the hard drive of my old iMAc to my New Lap Top and new Mac desktop. And it barely took a fraction of the available memory space on this hard drive. The package is complete, set up is simple, & operation is smooth & immediate. I will buy another Western Digital Elements Desktop 2 TB unit when I need one.I like the reputation of the Western Digital name & their products. I am impressed with the compact size of this External Hard Drive & that all you have to do is plug it in & start using it. Very quiet drive with masses of storage space.
Very quiet external hard drive. I have only had it for a few days now. The hard drive itself is easy to use with Windows/OS X and the data transfer speed is great for a user like me. It is limited to USB and 7200rpm, but compared to my other hard drives it is just as fast if not faster. And as I stated earlier, it is extremely quiet. Also, the design is nice.

I have had 2 of these . One had a WD 2002 FYPS Enterprise Drive . The other had a WD Green drive . The WD FYPS Enterprise drive ran hotter than the Green Drive . They both formatted ONLY in exFAT . I think this is intrinsic to external hard drives . Speed is slow , but it is very dependable . Very easy to hook up . Basically Plug n Play . I didn't get software with the second one but have used Win 7 Ultimate Back-Up successfully .
