Pride and Prejudice
This is the absolute best rendition of the timeless romantic comedy of 19th century English society. Unlike the latest Keira Knightly version you don't need to read the book to understand the complex plot of the story. The gorgeous countryside and the beautiful costumes only add to the charming story. Too often the emphasis is on location, costumes or sound track and the acting doesn't convey the circumstance of society or the relationship of the protagonists. Here the acting is superb. This is one of my all time favorite love stories. It has complexity, intelligence and style. Pride and Prejudice is the story of Elizabeth Bennet, one of five unmarried daughters living in the countryside of 19th-century England. The resolution of these strong first impressions through accident and happenstance and the intelligence to recognize error make this story fascinating and wonderful.

My friends and I are Pride and Prejudice collectors. We like the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice the best so I was pleased to get this complete set of the mini-series at such a reasonable price. My only complaint of the production is the ending. In the book Lizzie explains to her father the wonderful lengths Darcy has gone for her family and her reasons for loving him. In the film, Lizzie says to Jane that her affection for Darcy is based on his beautiful home, a throwaway mocking line in the book and far too shallow, even for me. In the book Jane chides Lizzie who then becomes more serious in her explanation. All of that is missing in the films. At the book's end, Austen takes the reader into the future and describes the closeness that remains between Lizzie and Jane's ... My friends and I are Pride and Prejudice collectors. This BBC Version Of Pride and Prejudice exactly as Book
I absolutely love the novel. I have found other productions of the novel entertaining, but much abbreviated. While this may appeal to some and for box office ticket sales it seems the only option. For those who know these characters in thier fullness or wish to truly know more about the novel without wishing to read it (shame on you), then this is version is for you. They may not be exactly how you or Jane saw these charaters when reading the novel but they are extremely close and the dialoge follows the novel almost word for word and the scenes follow almost line by line. It is a lenghty movie and I truly suggest true lovers of the novel to buy new on dvd,I choose to replace my dvd which was broken, cheaply for now w/used video. Pride and Prejudice
The casting for the roles in the A/E and BBC production of Pride and Prejudice, is the most accurate to date. The characters were brought to life so perfectly by the actors, that you, the audience, felt as though you had stepped back in time. The slithering, slimy Mr. Collins and the haughty Lady DeBurgh were so beautifully portrayed. The scatter-witted Mrs. Bennett,the scholarly Mr. Bennett and their many daughters, were faithful to the writings of Ms. Austen.
