Sci-Fi for the ages(The real backwards ages)

Cheesy fun. I loved these movies when I was a kid. Journey to the Seventh Planet has an interesting premise. One that was used in a later Twilight Zone episode. Invisible Invaders is definitely bottom of the barrel as far as a budget goes. But all in all still fun!

  • Wonderfully Lousy 1950s Sci Fi for your B Movies Collection

Decent video quality and typically nice Midnite Movies Double Feature packaging. The movies themselves... well... you really have to like 1950s sci fi 'cheese' (which I do!) to tolerate the ludicrously bad acting (meaning they star John Agar!), horribly low tech special effects (which Agar tries to react to), and monsterously awful writing/scripts/dialogue (again... stars John Agar). Certainly not on the same level as other 1950s sci fi 'classics' like 'the Monster that Challenged the World' or 'War of the Worlds' ... and aren't quite in the realm of 'so bad it's good' Ed Wood movies... but this set is a 'cliché must have' for fans of 1950s B movies (except that these two are 'watch once and put on the collection shelf'... unlikely to need to watch 'em twice). By the way... yes, I tend to ...

  • a couple of slices of cheese?

The Invisible Invaders/Journey to the Seventh Planet double feature will be a treat for cheesy horror/sci-fi fans but only those fans! Both star John Agar, both are low budget and both have certain charms. Invisible Invaders involves invisible (of course) aliens using dead bodies for their efforts toward world destruction. If we can't see them, we can't beat them! It's talky and has a lot of stock footage, but it's crisp in black and white and (as others have noted) the zombies do seem to have been an influence on the later NOTLD. Journey to the Seventh Planet has a much more original plot and is in color. Our expedition to that planet encounters a mind being that creates illusions the men must battle. It plays just like a Star Trek episode. Hokey but fun. Again, others beware but worth a ...

  • Love old classic Sci-fi movies

I love 1950's & 1960's SCi-Fi movies/ Though they are not blockbusters, they are both classic B-movie classics. One of the things I despise about newer movies is there always seems to be some kind of political or moral message which ruins the vibe. I try to collect these movies and watch them one after another as there is something relaxing about them.

  • Great Bad Sci Fi

Invisble Invaders was a favorite movie experience as a kid in the 1960s watching Saturday afternoon Horror/Scifi movies on TV. With the cheap special effect of moving dirt to show the invisible invaders walking and then taking dead bodies as their host, the memory of this film never quite left me and I recently decided to search it out. OK, it doesn't exactly thrill as it did when I was ten, but it is worth the effort. If you like cheesy scifi from the 50s and 60s, give this combo a chance.
