Wedge shape makes I difficult to store but easier to see where it's set. Reverse is easy to switch. Power off allows total shut down without unplugging. Voltage is not for 027 or g scale.

It runs for 5 minutes, power shuts off. comes back a few hours later, runs again for minutes. The box is heavily damaged, "opened box" was included in the description. I doubt that it is brand new.

As a basic no-frills power pack, the MRC 1300 Railpower is OK. It will run a N or HO locomotive on a small track fine, and is suitable for a starter set. I found this power pack seriously lacking on a larger double loop with just a single locomotive and lighted accessories. For the MSRP of $40+ and the lack of more advanced features, I can't reccommend this power supply. If you can find a used one for $25 it would be a nice deal, otherwise look at the MRC Tech 2/3/4 which you can find used for the same price.

This is a new controller, and it works fine for my HO train, but I would've hoped it had a little more power. I have to turn the dial to almost full power, but I assumed that when I purchased it as it a 1300.

I only run one locomotive on each layout at a time, but I have several small N layouts. I use a 1300 on each so the controls are identical. Makes my moving from layout to layout easier. Everything works the same! Big enough to stay in place. Small enough to not use excess real estate. Not expensive.. Weakest link is the reversing slide switch. If it dies, replace it with a DPDT 2 position toggle switch.
