This tool is everything they claim it to be. I previously owned the battery operated one and really depended on it as long as the batteries were charged. Over tome the batteries were lasting shorter periods of time, video dry frustrating, and this purchase and a couple of extension cords have solved my problem. A 66-year-old lady can put it to great use without aggravating her irritable shoulders!

It's very heavy for an older person. It's heavy on the front part of the saw and not enough leverage to grasp the very thin handles

This Alligator does exactly what it claims. It chews through branches and roots up to four and a half inches. As long as you get the chain running before you clamp down, it will cut through any thing in its size range. If you try to start the blade after clamping down, it can't get up the speed to start cutting. As long as you don't try to rush it, this tool will chew through even the hardest woods. It beats the daylights out of my Sawzall for this kind of work. There is no vibration or tendency to move the wood, it just chews through. This weekend I am using it to take out five cedars. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a bunch of branches, small trees or roots to cut up.

Bad shoulders and you still need to trim lower branches and stinkie privet hedges? This lightweight two handed chainsaw tool helps greatly. Comes with an oiler bottle and oiling chamber and the healthy/unhealthy/healthy again canola cooking oil works as well as any grade motor oil for keeping the chain and guide lubed if done frequently. The saw carries the same vulnerability as a regular corded hedge trimmer for seeking out and gobbling your electric cord into pieces.

After using this product several times, I would've liked to have this tool many years ago. Before purchasing, I always used manual looping shears. Several times when cutting a branch / limb up two inches O.D., sometimes the handles would come together fast and cause bruised thumbs and fingers. Not with this tool. It is fast and efficient. In fact I found myself trimming more branches then needed. It readily cuts branches up to 4 1/2 inches thick. Beside trimming, it would be great for cutting firewood (limbs / branches). In fact you can cut them on the ground in lieu of elevating with a standard chain saw. Also the fact that it is electric, does away with gas, oil and fumes. The only thing that seems strange is the oil reseviour for lubricating the bar and chain. I'm not sure if enough oil is dispersed. So far I haven't any problems. When your neighbors find out you have one, they will be knocking on your door. Highly Recommended Tool!Read full review
Paid $57 for this on the daily deal and it would have been well worth it to pay over $100. This thing is heavy duty and durable. We used it to cut down 8-10" diameter trees in the back yard and it made short work of them. I see no weaknesses with this machine. As a matter of fact, I am buying one for my grandparents and parents for Christmas. It's safe and easy to use. I would feel safe having a teenager using this as the guards protect you from almost any mishap. It looks small and compact, but boy oh boy does this thing pack a punch!
I like having the right tool for the right job, which means I have to have a lot of tools. I've yet to find a one-tool-fits-all-jobs tool and this is a nice addition to your gas chain saw, manual lopers, or hand saw to clean up limbs under 4" diameter. It's rated at 4.5 amps, so you are limited to about a 150' working radius with a 12 gauge extension cord. It cuts fast and clean and it has good safety features built in like a two handed power switch. I have only given it limited use at this point so I can't comment on its durability. It appears to be well constructed. The price is worth it for the work it will save you with the hand tools or the hassle of starting up the chain saw.
I have heard several horror stories about chain saws so I was fearful of using this one at first. But after having trees fall down at my house from Hurricane Ike and calling tree trimmers to get ridiculous quotes for tree cut up and removal I decided to take things into my own hands. This saw was perfect it made lite work of what I thought to be an endless task. It cut through large and small pieces with ease. I am glad I bought it. It only has one flaw and that is once your neighbors see how easy it is to use they want to borrow it.
This thing works great! I have run it through it's paces on several projects. I even tried cutting a much bigger stump than it could handle in one bite. By taking smaller bites and rotating around the trunk, it worked great, which was unexpected. That's not going to work on really large trees. but it will handle as much as twice the size, I expected. The only problem that I had was that it does build up sawdust/leaves/etc in the hinges of the teeth at the base of the saw and you have to clear it out intermittently or the jaws wont close properly.

The property line adjacent to our house was defined by a 250 foot row of overgrown privet hedges that were a true eyesore. Over the years, I've ruined a few conventional loopers on these same bushes. Previously we only trimmed the sides and never touched the height. The time had come! Our family planned a bush wacking party and the seven of us set a early spring date to cut the height from over 18 feet down to 3 feet. Being an avid eBayer, I searched for a tool and found this electric device. All the bushes were shortened in less than six hours, and every cut was made with this single tool. Yes, the chained popped off once, but the performance was outstanding...It easily handled diameters exceeding the four inches in the unit's specs. It performed flawlessly.
