I have used the Canon PowerShot A410 for years now. It was my first digital camera. It is simple to use and has too many features, but with the default settings I can keep it just right after messing around with the menu. I used it hard, taking it camping fishing in all kinds of weather, fits well in a pocket. This camera will make you a good photographer. The pictures come out clear and no fooling with focus or zoom. I have had several other more expensive digital camera's since the Cannon Power Shot A410, but I didn't like them as much and so I bought two more Canon Power Shot A410's, One for my Niece and one as a backup. There's really nothing to dislike about this camera, though It does have limited memory capabilities and doesn't seem to except some of the larger memory cards. Not an issue for me as the two or three hundred pictures it can hold before downloading is a huge set up from the old 35mm 24 picture reels.Read full review
I purchased this model when new (2004?) and enjoyed it thru China, Fiji, Puerto Rico - and 3 road trips across the US...then sadly it was stolen out of my car. Was happy to find it again and since I know its benefits - and quirks - took the chance and bought it right away. Easy to use, 2 AA batteries make it cheap and has a pretty good macro feature for closeup shots of my handmade jewelry.
I really like this camera, you have optical zoom, picture quality is great. Its not to small or to big, very compact size. You will need to buy a memory card because it only holds about 19 pics. Also batteries seem to die fast, keep an extra set of AA batteries w/in your camera bag.
My first digital camera - so far I love it! The basics are easy to use for a novice, but I keep finding out how much more it can do! I have to keep the instruction guide handy. Some things seem a little complicated to learn, but hopefully with time I'll figure out, if not all, most of what it can do. I haven't had a problem with the battery as I use the view finder instead of the LCD screen. I did end up buying the battery re-charger and it's a must to have a larger memory card. Bought the camera new on e-bay at below cost!
The A410 is affordable and the output from this camera is impressive. I have owned quite a few different models of digital cameras and have found none that I like better than the Canon A410 for ease of use, convenient size, rugged construction and excellent photos with the vivid color and great quality that Canon is known for. The operation of the A410 is very straightforward and easy to use. Anyone with any amount of experience with digital cameras will find this one easy and a pleasure to use and will almost certainly be satisfied with the photos. If you are using a computer with XP or Vista operating system you won't need to load any drivers....just connect with the supplied cable and set the dial to the view mode and the camera will "talk" to the computer.
