I admit I picked this more for the appearance than anything else. But It's a WD, so there are little worries of this failing. I was looking for an external drive to expand my Xbox One game storage and when I came across this I knew the search was over. The color and texture scheme is identical to the Xbox One so I now have a "Minnie me" for my console. It was truly plug & play. Once my Xbox detected it I was prompted to format for game & media storage and it took only a few moments to format and I was saving games within minutes. It is extremely compact, quieter than a whisper, has great transfer speed. I haven't had any problems nor do I expect any.

It works fast and has the memory capacity that I wanted was just not aware that it required it's own power source and was so big. It works great though and will work just fine .

I use Linux and I had no intention to use any backup software or other features of this drive. I just wanted the large storage capacity. I used GParted to delete the partition, create a new one and reformat to ext4 and I was on my way. Easy-peezy.

I only hooked it up about a week ago, therefore have not put it though a lot of use. Pros: - I guess you would say it is 'compact' as it does hold 4-GB. - I was able to simply connect and transfer files without having to go through a bunch of setting up. - There is a choice to set up all sorts of apps and security that I do not need, I simply need the local storage space which I chose not to use. - It has its own power supply so I can connect it through my small USB hub without blowing the hub's finals. - The USB cable is compatible with my aging tecnology. Cons: - I am using it for photos, transferring through an old Surface Tablet (Windows). The first time I tried to restart the tablet while it was connected to the external drive the little computer would not start. When I disconnected the device the tablet started on the first try. I suspect the computer was looking for direction from the external drive and was confused. I will leave it disconnected for now on unless I am actually using it. I'd give it 5* except for this one glitch that may not bother someone with modern equipment. Read full review

Very quiet operation virtually no sound. Encryption works well. Easy to turn on/off encryption. It lacks any status indicator light. This could be a problem if there is any problems with the drive. In my experience a status indicator light is very helpful when trying to figure out a problem with an external drive.
