Great pre for its size! I needed a pre small enough to fit into the cavity of a mic base and the K1803 was a perfect fit. Especially since my K1803's components were positioned horizontally on the board instead of vertically. This horizontal-positioning was an advantage as it allowed the variable control to be easily accessed. I'd appreciate knowing why this horizontal-positioned version is no longer produced by Velleman. I'd also appreciate knowing what advances this vertically-positioned version has over the other one. I welcome helpful comments and insights with reference to this kit's current design changes. Use it for a weak Lap Steel Guitar
Very sensitive all I need to do is crack it to avoid overdriving, but now my volume controls on the guitar and mixer are in the mid position. Easy build and very small. I power it with a 9 VDC battery and it works fine. A substitute volume pot with a on/off switch and it's in a very small self powered black box.
