Old enough to remember when the series was on tv, at the time a despised tv programme, now sentiment has made this dvd into a curious look in to the different and increasingly foreign England of today. Just as an observation this programme was popular in a lot of foreign countries and it is difficult to imagine the damage it did to the British reputation for being helpful and hard working. It is strange that the main character Stan is shown as chasing the clippies (bus conductors) and he was in his fifties in reality. Sadly Reg Varney did overact a litle bit. The best character in this sitcom is the miserable, sarcastic brother-in-law, Arthur and his dowdy wife Olive. But all things said and done, it is not a bad comedy and actually mocks the deplorable attitudes of the main characters who are good men but epitomise the 'Us and them' attitude of the English at that time, and for that matter today.Read full review

This really has got to be one of the funniest DVD's I have seen and this Series 2 is one of the funniest of all the series of On the Buses. Reg Varney is superb.
GREAT TO KNOW FOR THE FIRST TIME,THIS GREAT SERIES IS RELEASED COMPLETE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 1 DISC AND IS COMPLETELY INTACT WITH CLOCK'S BEFORE EACH EPISODE STARTS.
After seeing the film version of on the buses I wanted to watch the series, even though was in black and white was still funny.
This is one of the funniest comedys ever to be made. It doesn't matter how many times you watch this dvd, you can't stop laughing at Reg Varney & Stephen Lewis who is excellent as Inspector Blake.
Good old days, thats the result of this dvd. My nine year old son watches it over and over, despite it being black and white. British humour as it was, innocent and devoid of the P.C. brigade. well worth a look. Shame my wife doesn`t have a sence of humour!
Classic un-pc comedy, great. Good casting and well written. From a totally un-pc era which can be a shock for these days but very funny, Rcommend
Highly amusing series to watch AND work on. I was the senior videotape editor for most of them and enjoyed all of it. Started at LWT in Wembley and it moved through 3 main studios ending at the Thames River!!! Great! Sadly, most of the stars have passed away and there is nothing of its basic humour on UK TV any more. Oh well, must get the discs out!!
