Yes I gave this 5 stars. A 5 star should normally be high octane for every aspect- [think 'LOTR's' and 'Jurassic Park' . But I feel that some films that may not hit on all cylinders can achieve the 5 star. Part of that is for a film to have personality and be fun. This film achieves that. The monster isn't bad and is much better then movies release by the Sy-Fi channel. Over-all plot: Meteor comes to Earth. Lands near a fishing village. Alien aqua-being is released. It has a thirst for blood. While this happens the town's lead constable goes on vacation. A transfer-substitute cop comes to help. This is to the dismay of the constable's drunk deputy. So they don't get along. Call comes in about a pod of dead pilot whales. "What makes those marks on the pilot whales?" Now we meet the scientist. Then town members. GREAT characters- done great by the unknown actors that played them great. The town comes under siege as they learn about their situation and how to deal with it. It reminded me of "The Mist" but never boring. It ,also, reminded me of "Shaun of the Dead". {** This is what "THE WORLD'S END" should have been} With very likable characters. It's well paced, it's well filmed, directed, Script, ... and the F/X were really very good [personally I would have liked a different kind of monster, but, likely, many others loved this creature]. It's a great film with some of the best characterization you'll see. This film is worth bumping almost anything you want to see out of the way- unless there is something that you are dying to see. It looks like most other reviews- at another film site- have a similar view [and at the time I'm writting this, that's 227!Read full review
GRABBERS is or will be or even should be on anyone's or everyone's list who enjoys classic movie monsters. Tentacle type monsters are difficult to find, the problem possibly being CGI effects and the cost in making it look as real as possible. GRABBERS is great. If there was a down side, it would only have to be with the irish or Scottish accents. Very difficult to understand, especially if they speak to fast. However, the main characters do not seem to have that problem and anyway, the star of the movie, as far as I'm concerned, is the monster or monsters themselves. Fun to watch over and over again, which is why I purchased the movie in the first place. I attempted to watch it online but the volume is too low and could only catch part of what was being said. Don't know how to increase the volume on my laptop computer or else I would have merely watched it online and not purchased the DVD, (which I'm glad I did). I highly recommend this film to all interested parties that enjoy classic movie monsters. The only reason I can assume why it hasn't been shown on any of the premium movie channels like Cinemax or HBO, etc. is because it is a foreign film and quite possibly not a major distribution being an independent movie production. No doubt there are either restrictions or financial limitations and regulations involved in getting U.S. distribution. Still, the movie holds up and will stand the test of time and may receive airplay in the united states, maybe fifty or a hundred years from now. Hopefully sooner. Another great monster movie that isn't all that well known but released in the U.S. on DVD is, "THE HOST", produced and directed by a Japanese company. It is even better than GRABBERS. This is not to be confused by another film also entitled, THE HOST by an American film company. Supposedly a science fiction film. Hopefully, what I've written here is acceptable and well approved of . GRABBERS is a very good film for what it is. It even has humor and romance. Not really very scary but more suspenseful and action adventure type. It's worth checking out either online or purchasing the DVD. It's obviously not going to appeal to everyone, just those interested in the genre.Read full review

A great midnight movie. Entertaining and tense with very well done monsters. At times a dark comedy as the creatures prefer not to imbibe those who gave imbibed. In other words everyone gets drunk to stay alive. A hoot !!

Exceeded my expectations. As it starts you are thinking just another "B" movie but as the story progresses you become more involved as there is a very entertaining mix of horrific suspense, character development. and well placed humor. As the story progresses to a conclusion you begin to appreciate how cleverly written this movie is. Thank you! Great entertainment and is a keeper to be viewed time and time again.
