  • Korg D888-about what you'd expect for the price

Best things about this unit are the price and sound quality. Serves my purposes well as an event recorder for wedding videography, as it has enough inputs to handle most situations. The headphone jack works well, with more than enough level to drive any type of phones. Most frustrating is the incredibly long time it takes the unit to save recorded files at the end of a session-half an hour or more of watching the little clock spin with the word "working" on the LCD display at the end of a 2 hour session with all tracks enabled is typical. And if power is lost during this process, so are your files! At a typical location recording site, if you can't afford taking the time to "stand guard" over the unit while this process completes, there's a great risk ...

  • Nothing's Perfect, But...........

Nothing's perfect, but the Kord D-888 is a step in the right direction! I am not very experienced with the tedious process of recording with these multi-track recorders, but am learning the more advanced steps, using the several live concerts of my group that I have recorded. The main reason that I purchased it is the included 8 channel mixer section, which allows my to record any gig, rehearsal, or studio session that uses no more than 8 inputs. And it does this easily! The review complaints that I saw before purchasing the D-888 were valid. The reverb/effects choices and parameters are limited. This only truly comes into play when you use the unit as a mixer, while recording live and using only the 2 master-outs. If you want to have better effects, EQ, and options, you could use the 8 ...

  • Korg d888 is cool

I would recommend this recorder. It's designed the way I would design one if I could. It dispenses with all the bells and whistles and instead offers more meat and potatoes. So no it doesn't have 50 thousand crappy effects, a guitar input, a large screen, a cd burner, or a lot of tracks. It does however have a durable design (not plasticky, seems rugged), records 8 tracks simultaneously, one effect (reverb), and a USB port. It's really easy to upload or download wav files to your computer. I find that really convenient. You can master, add effects, or burn cds on your computer. So although you can only have 8 tracks, you can upload tracks to computer and mix as many as you need that way, or give them to a studio for mastering. Personally, I'd rather have the rugged design and 8 ...

  • Most flexible mixer/recorder I found for the money. To bad its discontinued

I work the sound board for our praise and worship band and was looking for a multi-track recorder and mixer for when the band performs away from church. I researched for months to find the most capable and flexible unit for a reasonable price and found the Korg. I am by no means a professional sound man but I found the controls easy to use once you get through the basic operations. The only confusion I had was with the color coding on the channels. Usually Red is mute and Green is not. The Korg uses Orange for active channel, Green for playback and Red for record. Only major complaint is the Trim Pots for each channel. They have to be near max in order to get decent sound and it is easy to overload if you are not careful with how fast you turn that last 1/8 of an inch. The USB ...

  • Worth the purchase

I like the fact it has enough inputs for me to use all my mic's even though i dont need to... For an intoductory mixer, its got more than enough potential. I have cronic problems with power outages at my house, so i have to use an "uninterruptable power supply" attached to it cause if you loose power before it saves... its gone. If you get one make sure it'll give you enough power to save your work or for the power to come back on. It's not korg's fault my power sucks, but a better proscessor for being able to save it faster would have been nice. Overall, i enjoy it.
