Upgrade your laptop by increasing its speed, performance, and storage with the WD 5000BPVT Scorpio Blue internal hard drive. Use the drive to replace the original one or install a secondary drive for more space or as a backup. This drive comes with an impressive, 500GB capacity. That’s enough room to store more than 8,000 hours of digital music, 150,000 high-quality photos, 500 hours of video recordings, 125, two-hour, DVD value movies, and run additional software or programs. The form factor of the Western Digital drive is 2.5 inches. This provides a snug fit into most notebooks running an Apple or Microsoft Operating System. Along with its small size, the hard disk only weighs 4.13 ounces. This is beneficial in keeping the device low weight and easy to transport. Scorpio Blue 500GB hard drives also have a low power consumption, so they don’t drain a laptop’s battery, making these drives ideal for mobile devices. Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB hard disks are easy to install. Before starting the process, backup or transfer all of the files on the current drive. Even if you aren’t touching the primary drive, if any damage occurs during the process, all the data is lost. The seven-pin Serial ATA-300 or SATA II is the interface to connect the drive to the motherboard. An interface is a cable for the WD 5000BPVT that resembles a thin USB. To complete this, remove the old drive and connect the 1 x SATA II 3 Gb/s cable into the first channel if you are replacing the drive or use the remaining channels for more storage with the Western Digital 500GB secondary HDD or an internal backup drive. After you connect it, slide it into the slot, so it doesn’t move around inside the case. A drive that’s loose or isn’t sitting correctly in the groove may fail from physical damage and overheating. The Scorpio Blue may require accessories, such as a mounting kit to fit the smaller drive into the tower’s slot. Another common accessory is an adapter for the SATA connection depending on the device’s model number.With the Scorpio Blue’s internal data rate of 106MBps, a drive transfer rate of 300MBps, and an average latency of 5.5 milliseconds, the 5,400 RPM Western Digital hard drive provides an optimal speed and performance for laptops. The buffer size or the amount of memory in the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB HDD is 8MB. This gives your notebook or desktop a large cache to hold temporary internal data storage for quick access or maintain speed during transfers.

    Excellent replacents drive

    Bought this drive for my laptop that crashed, it is faster, quieter and twice the size I had original...The only regret I have is I wish I had not upgraded to Windows 10 from Window 7... Do yourself a favor... DO NOT UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10.... IT SUCKS...

    Cheaper than Other HDDs.Working Fine.Good Performance.Buy it w/o any fear

    A nice product. This Hard disc can be used as a laptop hard disc and as a portable (external) hard disc. WD (Western Digital) is a good brand for hard disc and if it can be bought more cheaper it's good. My friend said that WD HDDs face hardware, power failiures sooner than other HDDs. But I'm using an external 2TB WD HDD for more than a year now and It's working perfectly.

    Only brand I will purchase when it comes to SATA Hard Drives.

    Excellent Replacement for my Hp Laptop. Easy installation and works like a charm. Western Digital hard drives have always been my first choice as they tend to last. Put a WD HD in my very first computer build back in 1994 and put one in my new desktop I just built. Great Drive and usually priced just right.

    fast easy installation. faster then previous hard drive. I needed a new hard drive as my prior one broke and this seemed to fit the bill to what I needed, it installed in minutes and reinstalling OS took no time at all, and much fast then what was in the laptop from factory.

    Great value for the money!

    I purchased this to do a clean Windows 8 install on a 2yr old laptop. The operation was successful and the HD has been working flawlessly for the last month. And I can always swap back the replaced drive that still has the OEM Windows 7. Over the years I have had good luck with upgrading my computers with ever larger WD hard drives.
