Why you ask? In TV and animation, characters come and go. Sometimes we wonder what happened to them. This 24 minute anime answers that question of what happens to Sumire (a main character)at a point that would be after the original Sakura Wars series and movie, but before Ecole de Paris. The problem is, I don't think anyone asked this question, or at the very least wanted a 24 minute explaination! As part of the Taisen collection, perhaps the folks behind Sakura wanted to clarify why Sumire was not in the series following the original, but it all felt pointless. Forget action, there are very few mecha scenes; this part of the story is only a footnote. Now for my rating: The animation, voice work, etc. is all as good as the original, the produciton is great and the series is not of inferior quality. It's the story telling that is lacking. Any true fan will want and need to have this, but make sure you pick it up at a bargain bin price and take it for what it is. If you buy it as a stand alone anime, you'll be very bored and most likely will not enjoy it at all.Read full review
Farewell through tears and joy. The last performance of a strong and admired (and by some beloved) member of the Flower Brigade. A short and beautiful story. Interviews with the staff and voice actors alone make the DVD worthwhile.
