The black plunger will not allow any light to come through and you will need to clip the end off to see any light. If you turn on your flashlight on your phone and put this over the light it will give you a bright (but not too bright) light and you just look at the center of the blue light and attach the contact. This is less than half the price as the See-Green unit. Using this will allow you to use both hands to open
