The caps/clips do not just "squeeze together" onto the socket, it takes some careful force. 1- seat the wire well onto the prongs (flat end of a file or something similar, with a light tap from a mallet does it) 2- once wire is seated, carefully squeeze the cap into place with channel locks. DO NOT hit it with a mallet, you will break the socket (like I did once).
