The FM radio picks up lots of stations and the MP3 started playing immediately when a thumb drive was inserted into the USB port. It did pick up a SW band although I did not spend much time with SW or AM function. The charging cable that was provided can be stored in the battery compartment. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. The built-in flashlight is big and bright.
