    British mysteries seem better written

    I used to watch Inspector Morse, when his Sergeant was Lewis; now that Morse has passed away, the mantle shifts to Lewis recently promoted to Inspector, or as the Brits say, DI (Detective Inspector); even their titles sound better than ours... this series shows how DI Lewis interacts with his DS (Detective Sergeant), where they agree, or disagree on each case; also their interaction with their Chief Inspector. The Brits just seem to handle things diplomatically with their hierarchy, or maybe it's just me comparing my law enforcement career in the U S government, where nobody really worked well together, because everyone was covering their butts, or worrying about promotions! great acting doesn't hurt, either

    Wonderful British mystery series

    Inspector Lewis was the former partner of the original iconic Inspector Morse (played memorably by the late John Thaw), now older and with a new, younger partner James Hathaway, who keeps Lewis up to date. Excellent acting by all involved, and as the series evolves Lewis even seriously falls in love with one of the regular series actresses. Enjoyable and intelligent police stories, highly recommended
