The good and the bad.
This is an excellent A/V receiver. It is a little more complicated than most, but has tons of sound and options. HK went out of there way to put DSP effects that will really wow you. Unfortunately, if you are only running 2 front speakers (as for audio only), you will here only slight DSP effect. This unit is made for a surround speaker system, and will rock it. The remote is programmable, but has no backlit buttons for easy night viewing. Plenty of volume from the HK 230, and easy to get at tone controls right on the front. A ton of hookup diagrams in the manual, and you WILL want to read the manual to get the most out of this unit!!! It's a must! They say plenty of bass management tools on the receiver, but actually, besides the tone and DSP effects, you can only change the ... This is an excellent A/V receiver. There is a timer feature which is great for those late night movies. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the unit or not before buying, but after testing it out, I was very satisfied with the unit. No connection for an ipod, but an adapter cable can easily take care of that. Tons of inputs for about any hookup desired....can't go wrong. This is a very happy addition to my collection of stereos. Function, along with beauty and great sound......it's a no brainer!

Dont buy used eletronics unless you get some inshurance.
The speaker outputs was out /Not working at all.I had a licened tech check it out as well.outputs was burnt to a crisp/It powered up nice and looked cool.lol.But thanks to square trade I was able to get half my money back.when buying electronics or anything with a moter on it back it up with square trade.It was worth the 17.00//PS I had to eat the 47.00 shipping cost.Thanks Mac Puckett.

Great value in vintage equipment.
The HK amplifiers/receivers from that era are known for durability and excellent soind quality. This one is in good shape and sounds great. I blew out the dust from inside before turning it on; that’s all it needed!
