A fabulous musical journey to the Tabernacle.
This recording, made by the late Jack Renner for Telarc, is simply of sensational musical and sonic quality. As always, Jack captured the marvelous acoustic space for which the Mormon Tabernacle is famous. The awesome musical forces in this recording, namely the Tabernacle Choir, Temple Square Orchestra, and the famous pipe organ, produce a massive, gorgeous sound that has few equals. The repertoire is very appealing, and the packaging first class. While this version is an SACD, as I am sure readers know, this now orphaned format also has, on the same disc, the "standard" CD encoding. So, it is also playable on CD machines that don't accommodate SACD's . A beautiful recording, and now another tribute to the great musical judgment that was the foundation for Jack's success.
