    replacmemt unit

    replacing an older Onkyo that lasted 5 yr before audio went out. Not enough service centers in the USA to work on them. The new one had 2 less speaker hook ups than the old one, and really wasn't clarified in the ad or at their website. not enough general use HDMI ports. I needed a general auxillary after the labeled ones were used. So I tried hooking the extra device in the game port, and since it was HDMI it still worked. But it sucks that One onkyo setup has hookups for 8 speakers, and then another for only 6 kinda defeats their original surround sound design. But it works good.

    Performs very well. I love Onkyo. Its very easy to use and understand. The sound quality is exceptional. No misses when watching surround sound. Delivers every time.

    Dissappinting

    Sound quality is dissappointing definitly not audiophile grade. This is the 2nd onkyo purchase and the last. Unit is overenginered making it difficult to use. The txnr838 is even more difficult to use and does not sound much better. They do sound like something you would get from a box store. Next time i will bite the bullet and stick with audiophile type equipment i.e. carver nad etc
