Arrived 2 days earlier than expected. Included instructions for assembly, and everything was thoroughly wrapped in the box to prevent damage.
For the chair itself, it is definitely in used condition. There are marks and scratches around the chair, none of which affect functionality. There is rust in the inside of the seat, but appears to be surface rust.
Overall, I think it's a great deal at $200 for a Steelcase chair. It has been very comfortable and everything is in working condition.

The chair itself is just fine. If you want SteelCase chair no matter what and for a fraction of the price of a new one - it's a good choice. I have several different SteelCase chairs at the institution I attend, which is why I also chose it as my main chair for the home office.
It's comfortable, sturdy, and has A LOT of adjustments - lumbar support firmness, height, seat position (front/back seat depth), the upper back force, and backstop.
The chair is refurbished for sure.

Steelcase Leap V1 for $200 bucks? Gotta be a scam right? But no! I actually contacted their support before buying to ask whats wrong with them (and gave the theory maybe they smelled bad or something?) They replied its maybe an open box or refurb'd they give a mix and wont say. But at this price even if you have to replace something it's still a deal. I'm 6'2 270lbs this is the low back version and its still the most comfy chair I've ever owned! Usually these go for $5-600 used/referb'd.

I must say that the team at Madison Seating is top notch.. Amazing customer support, very prompt. The chair arrived extremely quick and packaged perfectly, the chair was just as described, used but basically new and the price beyond reflects that. I had a issue with my chair not working properly gas cylinder and reached out to support and to my surprise they went above and beyond any expectation to fix the solution and made it absolutely hassle free in fixing the issue. Recommend buying here. A+

Chair was priced nicely compared to new and looks great out of the box. No idea if it's actually Open Box or Refurbished but it looks as good as new so I'm fine with it. Local FedEx was a nightmare and contacted MS to ask for help even though it's out of their control and their timely responses reflected that. Would definitely buy from this seller again (And hope for UPS delivery. Haha.)

Item was listed as New - Open Box. Item received was refurbished. Seller just told me too bad and that I should be happy I got a good price. Could not disassemble to return. Now have to deal with credit card company. Wouldn’t have minded a refurbished chair if that was what I ordered. I paid a little more thinking it was not a refurb. Buyer beware. Smelled like spray paint out of the box and not sure how well new foam will hold up compared to manufacturer original. Was heavily scratched as well.
