This didn't !!!!!!CHARGE ME UP!!!!!
I had been eying a unit such as this for a longtime so when I saw it on sale I thought. WOW ! Let's do it, it's time to buy that Ion Sport xl. Couldn't wait for it to arrive! Well it really lived up to it's pre billing all accept for one big problem the so called 75 hr battery wouldn't stay charged for more then 7.5 seconds even after being on charge for 48 hrs!!!! This is the feature I really purchased the Ion for and it let me down on a huge scale!!!!I had been eying a unit such as this for a longtime so when I saw it on sale I thought. WOW ! Let's do it, it's time to buy that Ion Sport xl. Couldn't wait for it to arrive! This thing is SOLID!!
I was EXTREMELY hesitant to buy this speaker since there really wasn't enough written or video reviews on it. Also, there's many complaints about certain ION speaker versions distorting at high volume levels but I discovered that you just adjust the phone volume along with the Speaker volume for more balanced sounds. I wanted to test Two speakers: this ION Sport XL and the "Blackweb BWA18AA014" speaker that I bought from Walmart. I bought the Blackweb speaker because the reviews, price was cheap and it said it had 100 watts. I was pretty impressed with the Blackweb speaker but I still felt like I wanted something a little louder so I took it back to Walmart, went to Best Buy and bought this ION Sport XL. I took this ION speaker home and then to a nearby freeway and park. I discovered ... I was EXTREMELY hesitant to buy this speaker since there really wasn't enough written or video reviews on it. Also, there's many complaints about certain ION speaker versions distorting at high volume levels but I discovered that you just adjust the phone volume along with the Speaker volume for more balanced sounds. I took this ION speaker home and then to a nearby freeway and park. I discovered that If you truly want to test the loudness of a speaker then take it to the side of a busy freeway or a street with noisy traffic. While at the side of the freeway, I used the aux plug-in so I can walk kinda far away. While doing so, All I can say is MAN!!!!! This speaker is no joke!! I can hear this thing way down the block in the midst of traffic and oncoming/exiting cars on the freeway! Then I took it to a big empty nearby park, played all types of music from ambient, new age to hip hop/rap. I set the volume near the red, walked to the back of the park and can STILL HEAR THIS THING! Then I tested upclose with the Bluetooth feature. The bluetooth works well but I notice that music will cut out once you're past 15-20ft. As long as you stay within range, the bluetooth works fine but for my purpose, I use the Aux plug-in instead. I wanted to test the bass since I heard certain ION versions have such terrible bass and distortion so I played some rap songs that are known to have heavy BASS and once again, my eyes lit up! The bass on this ION version sound GREAT! It had that type of ground sounding bass that you can feel under your feet and in your chest and it didn't really distort at all, not even at higher levels. To me, this thing can compete with some car audio speakers and sound systems. When you play dance mixes, this thing literally turns into a serious party MACHINE!! The battery lasts forever! I played it for a few hours and the battery level only went down 1 bar. Mind you, I was mostly playing songs with bass and the battery was still near full! When I bought it, the battery was still near full so I tested it right out the box..lol i'm not sure how long it would take to charge if the speaker was near drained but for 1 bar, it took around 3-4 hours to recharge back to full and I probably won't charge it for another 2-3 days. Other things about this ION version is the design which is very rugged, waterproof and fit for even the rainiest weather. I'm in the Bay Area and currently, it's been raining quite a bit and the rain hasn't harmed it at all. It has AM/FM radio that I really don't use but i indeed tested it. The radio actually works good depending on your location/area but you have to tune the channels in. The only thing I don't like is how loud it can be rolling it around on certain pavements and sidewalks but I'll just buy a mini dolly and prop the speaker on it for more quite rolling. The trolley handle is good and the speaker itself isn't that heavy. All and all, I say I'm VERY happy with my purchase and would recommend this speaker for sure!
