The coal has good sized pieces and heats properly when up to temp, it does have metallic impurities but not enough to worry about as long as you clear your heat space often.

This coal is great. Way better than charcoal or propane for knife making. With my setup on my forge I can get 1" thick 1060 up to welding temp in under 5 minutes.
