Review of Aftermarket Chevy Catalytic Converter (2010 Equinox, 4 cylinder engine)
The catalytic converter is not compatible with the 2010 Chevy Equinox. With a diameter that is about 50% smaller than the factory Equinox catalytic converter, the reduced surface area inside the aftermarket catalytic converter increases the vapor pressure in the exhaust manifold as the exhaust gases leave the cylinders, causing the engine to run excessively loud. The check engine light then turns on. I have mitigated other issues as I have troubleshooted problems with the engine. I have eliminated excess noise from the valves and replaced the coil boots and spark plugs.
