    D'Addario short scale bass strings.

    These short scale strings (typically 30 inches) were installed on a reconditioned Hagstrom with a 30.8 inch scale. They worked fine but the core was exposed JUST behind the nut on a few strings, so they BARELY made it at approximately 31 inches. Sound and playability are good. D'Addario makes nice strings and you can always count on that.

    Quality and balance across the set. 80 - 100 replaces an 85 - 105 fine on the SG bass.

    Quality replacement for the 45 - 65 - 85 - 105 set that I believe was the stock set on a used Gibson 2018 SG bass I just bought ( the year of the Babicz bridge instead of the stock, universally reviled, string-windings-hit-bridge-saddles one.) The stock string set had a dead-ish E, and A string was louder than the D and G. I wished to reduce the A's relative volume if possible, and get proper-sounding E. I had on hand a set of these D'Addario in this 45 - 65 - 80 - 100 and put the on. Perfect! The balance across the set was improved, maybe by having a slightly smaller-gauge A, and the E speaks properly. Each time I have changed a bass from another brand to D'Addario, though, I have had to lengthen all the strings to achieve intonation. On a Jack Casady Epiphone 34" scale bass, the ...
