    Don't buy just one!!!!

    These are the best portable antennas you can get for your hand held radios. Easy to carry, light weight, built solid and even easier to deploy. I have bought many of these because I keep a couple for me and hand out the rest to new Ham Operators. Don't buy just one!!!

    Iffy Comet GP-15

    I had two bad ones in a row - first would work on VHF/UHF, but not tune on six at all - stayed at about 53.3 MHz regardless or radial tuning. Could not find any physical issues. The replacement would not tune anywhere at all. Found broken (crushed) capacitor on matching coil, from factory this way (IMHO) not a shipping issue. They work well, when they work, but I can't say anything good about the quality control from Comet. I am no "newbie" - a ham for 52 years and a Broadcast Engineer. Picture is of second one - small 27pf cap completely broken.

    Comet GP-15 excellent Performance

    We have the GP-15 roof mounted at our home base station using a FT857 transceiver. The performance has been excellent, hit Repeaters 20+ miles with absolutely clear reception. Highly recommend the Comet GP-15 for 144 and 440

    GP-15 Quality and consistent results

    I bought one about 10 years ago after another Co-Linear I bought failed miserably to perform (had a W in the name, cant remember the rest of it) anyway the Comet GP-15 mounted on a wooden pole 25 feet above my garden shed is my go-to antenna for ES (Sporadic E) and QSO`s to Southern Spain and around Europe are frequent when in season and that's just 50mhz for you! SWR hasn't changed over the years either but I was very careful when installing to ensure this. So if, like me your somewhat restricted for antenna`s then miss-out those cheaper Co-Linears and buy one that performs and lasts. You wont regret it.

    good tri-band antenna

    I set this up on a 30' pole, and have hit repeaters 30+ miles away on 6 meter. 2 meter contacts made via simplex 45+ miles. Easy to assemble and tune for 6 meters.
