This lens is well made and good looking for a non-L lens. It's not exactly petite but it's not overly large or heavy. The zoom ring is smooth and well damped, and the focus ring is like silk and can be manipulated with one finger. Focusing in manual works well, and in auto it is great. With my Canon 80D it is fast and spot on, and with my 6D Mk II it even better in low light. I imagine any Canon camera with DPAF will also make for a great duo. I don't feel that you are giving up that much if you can't afford the more expensive 'L' version, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. Recommended!

I have two other Canon zoom lenses -- the EF-S18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM and the EF-S18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS -- but find I prefer the EF24-105mm for a couple of reasons. First, it's lighter in weight and easier to manipulate and carry over an extended shoot. Second, the optics are top-notch and deliver superior results to my eye. While each of my Canon zooms has an optimal performance profile and would be a better choice under certain circumstances, for all-round general use I currently prefer the EF24-105mm. It delivers nice wide-angle results while preserving my ability to capture great close-ups without having to take the time to swap lenses. It's a very satisfying choice.

I use it on the A7 through an adapter which enables adjusting aperture of Canon lenses on body. The lens builds quite solid, and balances with the camera very well. With A7's zoom-in focussing, the lens is able to focus precisely, better than with my Canon DSLR. Sharpness is ok for the entire range on the 24MP full frame sensor, while contrast is a little bit low, which can be enhanced via body settings or postprocessing.

I purchased this for my dad to use and only briefly used it myself to verify that it worked. It's not my L series glass, but I'd recommend it for anyone who's not hellbent on the sharpest possible images or fastest apertures. It's definitely well built and fairly quick to focus accurately. The IS is smooth and effective, and the zoom and focus rings are smooth. It's better built than I expected, comparable to my 24-70 f/4L IS USM, but not quite as fast or sharp. My dad is extremely happy with it on a Canon 6D.

Good focal range for most applications. Lower light can be a challenge. However, the 5ds that I use can compensate with iso settings. For the money a great everyday lens.
