    When the new NFL needed a sensation, the Eskimos provided it

    Ernie Nevers, who in many ways time has passed, is described in detail with the "town team" Duluth Eskimos taking on the entire country (around 30 games played in the season described, with only 13 players on the team roster, and with Ernie Nevers running, passing and kicking the team to the NFL playoffs of the 1920's season). Ernie Nevers even played with appendecitis, saying he had to be out there to field a full team. Even crusty old George Halas was quoted that they were exceptional. Due to the lack of source material due to the time period, the book relies on the archived newspaper reports. All things considered, a fine addition to the historical archives of the National Football League.
