The Greatest Golden Age Stories Ever Told is an excellent hardcover book that contains positive stories from the early 1940 DC Comics with art from the greatest artists of that time period! Artists such as: Dick Sprang, Carmine Infantino, Reed Crandall, E.E. Hibbard, Alex Toth, Irwin Hasen, Joe Kubert, Mac Raboy, Jack Cole, Sheldon Mayer; Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Al Plastino, H.G. Peter, and others. It has many solo stories of some of the very best heroes that belonged to my all time favorite group The Justice Society of America. These stories are very patriotic and lend some insight as to the mindset that was prevalent during the forties when good was good and bad was bad. The good heroes fought criminal villains with tyrannical minds wanting to control the world and its people. The heroes are the Golden Age Batman, Black Canary, The Black Hawks, Flash, Green Lantern, Kid Eternity, Plastic Man, Slam Bradley, Superman, Wonder Woman, Black Condor, The Boy Commandos, Hawk Man, Johnny Quick, Robot Man, Sand Man, The Spectre, Vigilante and Wildcat. The cover is painted by one of my favorite modern artists Jerry Ordway who worked on many stories in another DC Comics title known as the All Star Squadron. It's a 288-page hardcover volume containing 22 tales of the best of the Golden Age Heroes from DC, All-American and Quality Comics. You should want to have a copy of this book since trying to get a copy of the original comic books presented in this reprint edition would set you back thousands of dollars.Read full review
