Spend your evening laughing as Hawn plays a snooty heiress and Russell plays a carpenter working on her yacht whom she fires. Hawn's character later falls overboard and suffers from amnesia. Russell's character decides to get back at her for his firing and decides to con her into believing she is his wife. The ending is pure fairy tale magic. Garry Marshall directed this comedy from MGM. It is rated PG and also stars Katherine Helmond and Edward Herrmann.

I really liked the movie. I am replacing my old well used VHS by the same title before the VHS player goes out and I can't get another one. I enjoy these two, Goldie and Kurt working together. The shaping of their two characters is very entertaining to watch.

Anyone who has ever dealt with the super rich can appreciate and understand this movie. Dean Prophet (Kurt Russell) is a carpenter in a small Northwest fishing village. He is a widower and has four or five misbehaved boys that have no manners or courtesy. They are bad! Summoned to her yacht while it is being serviced, Joanna (Goldie Hawn) instructs Prophet to build her a new closet in her stateroom. He does so but she refuses to pay saying that it was not to her liking. She then throws both him and his tools into the water as her yacht is leaving. Later that night little Miss Priss falls overboard and is rescued by a garbage scow. She is brought ashore with amnesia. She has no idea who she is or where she is from. Overboard is overly-hilarious........
I bought this movie because I recently attended a concert by The Wright Brothers Band, and they mentioned they had a part in this movie. They were the band playing in the bar where Kurt took Goldie for her birthday dinner. This group has been together for 36 years, are from Central Indiana, and are well-loved around here and on the road. I remembered having seen the movie in the late 1980's after it's release, but forgot much of the story line. I really thought it was hilarious this second viewing, and offered some good thoughts about relationships and what's important in life.
