The Porta 02 MKII isn't exactly packed with features, but it does what it does really well. You have two simultaneous inputs, and one special input designed for guitars and basses, a very simple mixer section with just volume and pan, headphone and line outs. There's no way to punch in, and no way to bounce tracks directly on the unit. Though this can be done on an external cassette deck. Build quality is very nice, motor is strong running on the one I have and tapes play back and record perfectly. Recording quality is quite nice, warm, and analog as you'd expect. It works fine with normal bias cassettes, and it also has very nice sounding microphone preamps. My only criticism is the headphone output seems a bit off center, making my left headphone slightly louder than the right. This does not affect the main outputs though. Tascam made this model later in the game of cassette 4 tracks, so you can often find them in very good condition and for a very good price. I highly recommend picking one up if you're looking to do some cheap analog recording.Read full review

Product performs as expected. Since it is used there are some glitches but it fits into a comfortable niche. Recording one or two tracks at once is useful for a lot of people. Re hearing some older 4 track recordings is helpful.
