Promotions Manager

Promotions Manager provides eBay Store subscribers with an easy way to set up special offers on eBay. Promotions can help you attract more buyers, clear old stock, increase average order size, and even lower shipping costs by bundling more items per order.

You can set up four different types of special offers using Promotions Manager:

  • Order discounts – Offer discounts based on order size, or the amount spent by a buyer. You can also create promotions such as a percentage off an additional item, or buy one get one free
  • Codeless coupons – Offer exclusive discounts to buyer groups of your choosing by using a virtual coupon
  • Promotional shipping – Offer cheaper shipping on items that qualify for your offer
  • Sales events – Reduce prices for selected items or categories
  • Volume price discounts – Offer tiered discounts to buyers who purchase multiple quantities of a single item

Using Promotions Manager

For items to be eligible for Promotions Manager, your listing must be fixed price format with Buy It Now pricing.

Items will appear at the advertised price, and the discount will be applied in your buyer's shopping cart.

Creating promotions

When creating a special offer, Promotions Manager will take you through the following steps:

  1. Defining your objective – Promotions Manager suggests objectives for your campaigns, such as Introduce new items or Capture seasonal traffic.
  2. Setting offer details – The tool allows you to pick the type of offer you'd like to run, based on your objective. For example, if you selected Introduce new items, Promotions Manager will provide you with set special offers to choose from, such as Buy one, get one free.
  3. Adding items – You can manually add up to 500 items from your inventory to your offer. You can also create rules so new items are added to the special offer automatically.

Once you've completed these steps and you're happy with the details, select Launch or Save for later if you'd like to run your campaign at a later date.

To create a sale in Promotions Manager:

  1. Go to Marketing - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub.
  2. Select Promotions on the left side of the page.
  3. Select Create a promotion.
  4. Choose Sale event + markdown.

Once you've created a sale, you can see it on your Promotions Manager dashboard.

To edit a sale:

  1. Go to Marketing - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub.
  2. Select Promotions on the left side of the page.
  3. Select Edit from the Action dropdown menu next to the sale you want to edit.

Once a sale is active, you can't change the discount or add new items. You can edit the Sale event name, Sale event description, change the end date or select a new image directly on the Review and launch page.

To remove items from the sale, select the Edit link in the Discount type and items section, then select the item(s) you want to remove.

Offering volume price discounts

Volume pricing lets you offer discounts to buyers who order multiple quantities of the same item.

Here’s how to set up volume pricing:

  1. Select Promotions from the Marketing tab - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub.
  2. Select the Create a Promotion button and then choose Volume Pricing.
  3. On the next page, name your offer, choose your pricing tiers, and enter either the SKUs or item IDs for the items you want to include in your promotion. Finally, choose the date range for when the promotion will be active.

You can create percentage tiered discounts (For example: Buy one t-shirt at full price, buy 2 t-shirts and save 5%, buy 3 t-shirts and save 10%, buy 4 or more t-shirts and save 15%) and buyers will see your offer in your listing.

Using Promotions Manager, you can create special offers ranging from 'buy one, get one free' to discounted shipping.
